Art has always been a big part of my life, ever since I was a child. I’ve been drawn to creative expression for as long as I can remember. My journey with henna started at the age of five when I first picked up a cone and began experimenting with designs. What started as a childhood curiosity quickly turned into a deep passion that has stayed with me throughout the years.
As I grew older, I continued to practice and refine my skills, finding joy in creating intricate, meaningful designs. With every swirl and pattern, my love for henna deepened, and over time, I developed my own unique style. Friends and family often encouraged me to take my passion further, suggesting I start an online platform and take bookings. But like many, I hesitated, unsure of how to begin. The idea of curating my work, deciding what to post first, and writing the perfect captions felt overwhelming.
During the pandemic lockdown, I finally decided to create an Instagram account, though I wasn’t quite ready to share my work yet. I added a simple “coming soon” in the bio and left it at that, thinking I would eventually come back to it. However, life got busy as I started my bachelor’s degree, and my focus shifted. It wasn’t until the final stretch of my undergraduate studies that I revisited the idea. With a fresh mindset, I told myself, “Why not just start?” And so I did.
I began posting henna designs, first on myself, then on my mom, and even on acrylic hand templates to build a portfolio. I started small, with photos of my work and captions that shared the story behind each design. As I gained confidence, I noticed how quickly social media, especially TikTok, was growing as a platform for artists. So, I opened an account there, sharing little snippets of my henna process—quick, behind-the-scenes moments that brought my creations to life.
As I immersed myself in the world of henna on social media, I realized how many talented artists and enthusiasts were already sharing their work. I began to think deeply about what I could bring to the table that was uniquely my own. This reflection pushed me to explore new ideas, experiment with different styles, and find my voice in a community where tradition meets modern expression.
Today, I’m proud to share my love for henna with the world, creating art that blends cultural heritage with personal creativity. This journey has been one of growth, self-expression, and constant learning, and I’m excited to continue evolving, discovering what makes my work stand out, and sharing it with those who appreciate the beauty and artistry of henna.
